  报道了（2-硝基苯基）乙酰基（NPAc）基团用于保护羟基官能团的效用。（2-硝基苯基）乙酸酯易于从可商购的便宜的（2-硝基苯基）乙酸开始制备，并且这些酯在一系列常见的碳水化合物转化下是稳定的。可以使用Zn和NH 4 Cl选择性除去NPAc基，而不会影响一系列常见的保护基。该新的保护基与常用的叔丁基二甲基甲硅烷基，乙酰丙酰基，9-芴基甲氧基羰基，萘甲基和对甲氧基苄基正交。
