An efficient approach for Cu-catalyzed thiolation of C-sp2-H bonds of directing-group-containing aromatic amides with 1 degrees, 2 degrees, and 3 degrees aliphatic thiols and thiophenols has been developed. This method shows excellent functional group tolerance and provides a straightforward way for the preparation of aryl thioethers. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
