Palladium metal catalyzes the decomposition of benzyl azide affording benzonitrile, benzylamine, and N-benzylidenebenzylamine. The presence of a suitable hydrogen-acceptor improves the yield of benzonitrile at the sacrifice of benzylamine, whereas the yield of N-benzylidenebenzylamine remains constant. The reaction is applied to the preparation of other nitriles.

synthesis is performed at roomtemperature in the presence of ecofriendly fatty alcohols to passivate Co NCs. Through a recycling step, the yield of Co NCs is improved and the waste generation is limited, making this synthetic route cleaner. After an easy exchange of the capping ligands, we applied them as unsupported catalysts in the stereoselectivesemihydrogenation of alkynes.

[Pd(NHC)(PR3)] complexes were shown to be active catalysts in the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane and the subsequent hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds at very low catalyst loadings (0.05 mol% for some substrates).
