A General Synthesis of Bis(<i>o</i>-azaheteroaryl)methane Derivatives from<i>N</i>-Oxides of Azines and Azoles

A general method of preparation of derivatives of bis(o-azaheteroaryl)methanes from aromatic N-oxides is reported, the key step of which is a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between N-oxides of azines or azoles and in situ generated terminal difluoroalkenes containing an o-azaheteroaryl substituent at the double bond. Selected products were applied for the preparation of two novel unsymmetrical analogues
A series of azine-imidazole aza-BODIPY analogues has been prepared by a simple synthesis from 2-azinecarboxylic acids and imidazole N-oxides. The new fluorescent complexes exhibit largeStokesshifts (up to 10 000 cm−1), fluorescence in crystalline phase, high stability and fluorescence solvatochromism.

A new synthetic procedure of 1-alkyl(aryl)-1H-4-methylimidazole N 3 -oxide derivatives by cyclocondensation of α-amine-oximes and orthoesters was studied. Low yields in the cyclization process were the result of predominant Z-stereoisomer around the oxime moiety of α-amineoxime reactants. Different attempts to improve these yields were assayed, mild conditions being those that produce the best results
