A reduction method of aliphaticnitrocompounds to oximes using carbon monoxide was developed. When aliphaticnitrocompounds were treated with carbon monoxide in the presence of a selenium catalyst, the corresponding oximes were formed in moderate to good yields.

Herein, a new method of iron-catalyzed carbonylative cyclization of γ,δ-unsaturated aromatic oxime esters to functionalized pyrrolines has been developed. By using readily available substrates, 32 examples of functionalized pyrrolines were prepared in moderate to good yields. Notably, examples of reduction and cycloaddition reactions of the obtained product were given as well.

Up the tempo: The intramolecular addition of oxime radicals to CC bonds was achieved by using DEAD and TEMPO to give 4,5‐dihydroisoxazoles as a result of a CO bond‐forming, 5‐exo‐trig cyclization. γ,δ‐Unsaturated ketoximes also reacted to afford cyclicnitrones through CN bond formation. The reactions offer a metal‐free approach for the vicinal difunctionalization of unactivated alkenes.

An elemental tellurium mediated synthesis of 2-(trifluoromethyl)oxazoles from the reaction of acetophenone oxime acetates with trifluoroacetic anhydride has been developed. This new tandem cyclization proceeds in good to excellent yields via a SET reduction followed by a 5-endo-trig pathway. Some of the title compounds showed fungicidal and insecticidal activities.
A mild and efficient copper-catalyzed trifluoromethylation reaction which involves the cyclization of oximes has been developed. This method provides a convenient access to a variety of useful CF3-containing 4,5-dihydroisoxazoles by constructing a C–CF3 bond and a C–O bond in one step.
