New reactivity of methoxyhydridosilane in the catalytic activation system
摘要:
Hydroxy eaters are reduced by trimethoxysilane in the presence of a catalytic amount of lithium methoxide to yield diols, while for simple eaters the alcohol exchange reaction takes place preferentially. Through the exchange reaction, lactones without a hydroxy group are reduced. Tosylimines are also reduced in the system. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

The first procedure to access N‐tosylimines directly fromalcohols under mild and neutral conditions is reported. The protocol involves saccharin‐lithium bromide‐catalyzed oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes/ketones with chloramine‐T followed by their condensation with the in situ generated oxidation by‐product p‐toluenesulfonamide in the same reaction vessel to afford N‐tosylimines in 40–90% overall
