  Disclosed are selected 5-benzamido-3-trichloromethyl-1,2,4-thiadiazole compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, lower alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, nitro and halo.
