    Synthesis and evaluation of antibacterial and antitumor activities of new galactopyranosylated amino alcohols

    Three series of D-galactose derivatives linked to a lipophilic aminoalcohol moiety were synthesized and their antibacterial activity was evaluated against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and representative species of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Five out of the thirteen tested compounds displayed activity against M. tuberculosis, with a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 12.5 mu g/mL and seven compounds were active against the four bacterial strains tested. The best results were obtained for amino alcohols 10 and 11 against Staphylococcus epidermidis (MIC = 2 mu g/mL). The antitumor activity was evaluated against three tumor cell lines (MCF-7, HeLa and MO59J) and compared to the normal cell line GM07492A. The results showed that the lowest IC50 values were observed for the amino alcohol 16 against MCF-7 (11.9 mu M) and MO59J (10.0 mu M). (C) 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.

    An amidine containing at least one structural unit of the formula (I) and the use thereof as catalyst for the crosslinking of a functional compound, especially of a polymer having silane groups. The amidine is preparable in a simple process from readily available starting materials, is largely odorless at room temperature and is of low toxicity. It accelerates the crosslinking of functional compounds surprisingly efficiently and can be adjusted for optimal compatibility with different compositions via the radical to which the structural units of the formula (I) is bonded, which means that such compositions do not have a tendency to migration-related defects such as separation, exudation or substrate soiling.

    The present invention provides a liquid amine composition for an emulsifier for bitumen which can impart, to a bituminous emulsion, more excellent emulsifying stability and adhesive properties to aggregates than conventional products. The liquid amine composition for the emulsifier for bitumen of the present invention comprises (1) 5 to 70% by weight of a monoamine having an aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of 8 to 22 carbon atoms, (2) 20 to 80% by weight of a polyamine having an aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of 8 to 22 carbon atoms, and (3) 10 to 75% by weight of an organic acid of 4 to 18 carbon atoms.

    A lubricating composition containing an organic molybdenum compound having excellent oxidation stability that provides lubricity for long periods of time is provided. The lubricant comprises a molybdenum amine compound obtained by reacting a compound containing a hexavalent molybdenum atom with an amine represented by the following formula (1): where each of R1 to R3 represents a hydrogen atom and/or a hydrocarbon group having one or more carbon atoms, and at least one of R1 to R3 is a chain hydrocarbon group having 14 or more carbon atoms, or the following formula (2) wherein R4 represents a chain hydrocarbon group having 10 or more carbon atoms, s represents 0 or 1, X and/or Y represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group having at least one carbon atom, an alkanol group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkyl amino group having at least one carbon atom, and X and Y are not hydrogen atoms or hydrocarbon groups at the same time when s is 0. A lubricating composition containing the lubricant is also provided.

    Disclosed is a metal pigment composition which can be used in an aqueous coating and shows excellent storage stability of a coating agent, and which is reduced in the deterioration of glossiness, hiding power, flip-flop property and the like when formed into a coating film. Specifically disclosed is a metal pigment composition which is treated with at least one amine salt of a heteropoly acid. The heteroatom constituting the heteropoly acid is at least one element selected from the elements belonging to Groups III, IV and V. The polyatom constituting the heteropoly acid is a transition metal. The amount of the amine salt of the heteropoly acid is preferably 0.01 to 10 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of a metal pigment. The metal pigment is preferably an aluminum flake.
