(+/-)-3-beta-Bromo-2-beta-methyl-4a-beta-H,8a-alpha-H-decahydronaphthalen-2-alpha-ol, C11H19BrO, M(r) = 247.2, tetragonal, I4BAR, a = 14.146 (6), c = 11.910 (8) angstrom, V = 2383 (2) angstrom 3, Z = 8, D(m) = 1.37 (2), D(x) = 1.38 Mg m-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71073 angstrom, mu = 3.38 mm-1, F(000) = 1024, T = 213 K, final R = 0.043 for 705 counter reflections. The trans-fused six-membered rings are chair-shaped but somewhat flattened. The torsion angle O-C(2)-C(3)-Br is -169.1 (6)-degrees, the departure from 180-degrees being almost entirely due to lateral displacement of the bromine atom.
