The structure elucidation of a new phytoalexin, isolated from diseased mulberry leaves and designated as chalcomoracin, is described. The compound is regarded biogenetically as a Diels–Alderadduct of a chalcone, isolated newly from diseased mulberry shoots, and a substituted 2-phenylbenzofuran.
