New 1-(omega-chloroalkyl)isatins were synthesized by alkylation of isatin with alpha-bromo-omega-chloroalkanes. The reaction of 1-(3-chloropropyl)isatin with tris(diethylamino)phosphine followed the deoxygenation path with selective formation of isoindigo derivative.
