stepwise preparation of tungstenocene derivatives [Cp2WL2][BF4]2 (LCO or NCME) from [W(CO)6] via [CpW(η3-C3-H5)(CO)2] and [CpW(η4-C5H6)(CO)2]BF4 is described.
