  The present invention concerns novel aromatic long chain alkyl ethers and thioethers of the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon group, R.sub.2, r.sub.3, r.sub.4 and R.sub.5, are each hydrogen or alkyl, w and z are integers, X is an ether or thioether bridge, and R.sub.6 is an aromatic radical.
