C-methoxyphenacylarylamines, made by two routes, were converted into monomeric imines on treatment with noble-metal catalysts. The boron trifluoridecatalysed reactions of aryl aldehydes with sulphonamides provide a new and convenient route to N-sulphonylarylimines.
