decarboxylation reaction of phenylglyoxylic acid with hydrogen peroxide is studied by real-time hyperpolarized carbon-13nuclearmagneticresonance (13C NMR) spectroscopy at room temperature. A non-observable reaction intermediate is identified using blind selective saturation pulses in the expected chemicalshift range, thereby revealing information on the reaction mechanism.
