The title compound, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4,5-diphenyl-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxy-phenyl)-1H-imidazole, was synthesized using a domestic microwave oven, and the structure of the product obtained was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The compound, C30H25ClN2O3, crystallizes in the triclinic crystal class in the space group [image omitted] with cell parameters a=10.635(15) angstrom, b=12.262(2) angstrom, c=11.656(3) angstrom, =69.817(15)degrees, =64.630(6)degrees, =73.503(16)degrees, and Z=2. The structure has been solved by direct methods and refined to R1=0.0764 for 3078 unique reflections with I2 sigma(I). The imidazole ring in the structure adopts a planar conformation. No classic hydrogen bonds were found in the structure.
One-Pot Synthesis of 1,2,4,5-Tetrasubstituted Imidazoles in Ionic Liquid
The four‐component condensation of benzil, aromatic aldehyde, primary amine, and ammonium acetate catalyzed by TFA in ionic liquid [Bpy]BF4 at 80°C provided 1,2,4,5‐tetrasubstituted imidazoles in moderate to high yields.
