We report an efficient synthesis of chiral (2S)-ethylhexanol for functionalizing and solubilizing conjugated polymers. The alpha-substituted chiral ethylhexyl side chains were obtained through a powerful and flexible asymmetric synthesis using pseudoephedrine as a chiral auxiliary.
