Acid chlorides react with SmI2 to give α-diketones. Various experiments show that the initially formed acyl radical is rapidly transformed into an acyl anion which is thus generated by quite an unusual route.
A photocured acrylic coat comprised of the photoreaction products of: (i) at least one photocurable polyfunctional acrylate monomer; (ii) at least one phenyl ketone photoinitiator; and (iii) at least one active ultraviolet radiation absorber selected from benzotriazoles, cyanoacrylates, and hydroxybenzophenones. The coating is substantially completely or completely cured and provides improved protection to the substrate against ultraviolet radiation. The coating is also nonopaque or transparent.

A plastic substrate having deposited on at least one surface thereof a photocured acrylic coat-comprised of the photoreaction products of:
(i) at least one photocurable polyfunctional acrylate monomer;
(ii) at least one phenyl ketone photoinitiator; and
(iii) at least one active ultraviolet radiation absorber selected from benzotriazoles, cyanoacrylates, and hydroxybenzophenones. The coating is substantially completely or completely cured and provides improved protection to the substrate against ultarviolet radiation. The coating is also non-opaque or transparent.

Beschrieben wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von photopolymerisierbaren Zusammensetzungen, wobei die photopolymerisierbaren Zusammensetzungen durch Einstrahlung von Emissionslinien unterschiedlicher Wellenlänge einer UV/VIS-Laserlichtquelle photopolymerisiert werden können und eine photopolymerisierbare Verbindung und mindestens zwei Photoinitiatoren enthalten, durch Abstimmung der Strahlungsempfindlichkeit. Das Verhältnis der Konzentrationen der einzelnen Photoinitiatoren wird so abgestimmt, dass die Zusammensetzung für die Strahlung der verschiedenen Emissionslinien, bei denen die Photoinitiatoren wirksam sind, praktisch die gleiche optische Dichte besitzt.
