  Two novel pregnane glycosides, hemidescine and emidine, have been isolated from the dried stem of Hemidesmus indicus. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence is consistent with the structures 20-O-acetyl calogenin 3-O-beta-D-digitoxopyranosyl(1 ->4)-O-beta-D-oleandropyranoside and calogenin-3-O-beta-D-digitoxopyranosyl(1->4)-O-beta-D-digitoxopyranosyl(1->4)-O-beta-D-digitoxopyranoside, respectively.
