Alkyl groups in trialkylboranes were successfully transferred to carbonylcompounds in the presence of the platinum cathode and copper anode by electrochemical method. The new, mild electrochemical alkyl transfer reaction produced various substituted alcohols in good yields.

bromine in the dark gives rise to both butyl bromide and hydrogen bromide when carbon tetrachloride is used as a solvent. The rate of disappearance of the borane and bromine are essentially equal and decreases in the ordersec-butyl >n-butyl > isobutyl. However, the corresponding butyl bromide appears at a much slower rate and the formation of hydrogen bromide is quite rapid during the initial stages of

A compound comprising a ring structure including a ring composed of four carbon atoms and two nitrogen atoms and a substituted or unsubstituted amino group bonded to the ring structure.
Acids containing 2n+1 carbon atoms and esters containing [(2n+1) + n'] carbon atoms are produced, respectively, by the reaction of olefins containing n carbon atoms with carbon monoxide and water or alcohols containing n' carbon atoms in the presence of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. The carbon number of esters from diols is given by [2(2n+1) + n'] wherein n' represents the carbon number of the diol.

The invention relates to a process for obtaining a dialkyl carbonate and an alkylene glycol from a stream comprising dialkyl carbonate, alkylene carbonate, alkylene glycol and alcohol, comprising the following steps:
(a) distillatively removing a stream (
5
) comprising dialkyl carbonate and alkylene glycol as a heteroazeotrope from the stream comprising dialkyl carbonate, alkylene carbonate, alkylene glycol and alcohol in a first distillation stage (
1
),
(b) separating the stream (
5
) comprising dialkyl carbonate and alkylene glycol as a heteroazeotrope into a first crude product stream (
27
) comprising essentially di-alkyl carbonate and a second crude product stream (
29
) comprising essentially alkylene glycol in an apparatus for phase separation (
25
).
