A novel “protecting group-dependent” alkylation strategy was developed for complementary diastereoselective syntheses of α,α‘-syn- and α,α‘-anti-bis-alkenes 2 and 3, which represent ring-closing metathesis (RCM) substrates for medium-sized oxacycles.
