with palladium is favored by the arrangement of the nitrogen donor atoms. The boat conformation observed for the six-membered chelate-ring is attributed to the bulk of the lateral chains. Double cyclopalladation of the ligand affords a 5.6.5 fused-ring system. A 1H NMR study of this metallocycle shows two rigid five-membered lateral rings and a more flexible six-membered central ring.
