    A fluorine-atom-containing polymerizable unsaturated-monomer of the present invention is represented by the following formula (1a) or (1b): wherein each of a ring Z 1 and a ring Z 2 is an alicyclic carbon ring; when the alicyclic carbon ring is multi-cyclic, a part of atoms constituting the ring may be substituted by an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a nitrogen atom; an atom constituting the ring Z 1 and the ring Z 2 may have a substituent; each of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is an alkyl group or a fluoroalkyl group; R is an specific unsaturated acyl group; provided that at least one of R 1 and R 2 is a fluorine atom or a fluoroalkyl group in the formula (1a), and in the formula (1b) (i) the ring Z 2 is bonded by a fluorine atom or a fluoroalkyl group, or (ii) R 3 is a fluoroalkyl group.

    A polymerizable adamantane derivative of the present invention is represented by the following formula (1): wherein R 1 is a fluorine atom or a fluoroalkyl group; and the adamantane ring in the formula may have a substituent. As the said fluoroalkyl group, there may be mentioned, for example, a trifluoromethyl, a pentafluoroethyl, a 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl, a 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl, a heptafluoropropyl group and so on.

    PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a new fluorine-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer useful for producing a polymer compound having high transparency to the light having wavelength of ≤300 nm, especially vacuum ultraviolet rays of F2excimer laser (157 nm), or the like.

    SOLUTION: The monomer expressed by formula (4) (R1is fluorine atom or a fluoroalkyl group; an adamantane thereof ring may have substituents) is produced by reacting a compound expressed by formula (1) (the adamantane ring may have substituents) with a methylation agent expressed by the formula (2): CH3-M (M is a metal atom or MgX1group (X1is a halogen atom)) and reacting the reaction product with an unsaturated acyl halide expressed by formula (3) (R1is same as defined above; and X2is a halogen atom).
