  The doubly enantioselective lipase-catalyzed transesterification of the meso-diol 1 with rac-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl 2-chloropropanoate (2) afforded mainly the diastereomers 3a and 3c in a ratio depending on the origin of the lipase. Both compounds were obtained with very high e.e.'s.
