The present invention provides a curable composition which comprises: Component (A): A polyoxyalkylene polymer containing at least one reactive silyl group at a molecular chain terminus; Component (B): A polymer composed of acrylic acid alkyl ester monomer units and/or methacrylic acid alkyl ester monomer units containing, on the average, at least one reactive silyl group in each molecule; and, Component (C): An ionic surfactant, and which may be suitably used as a sealant for buildings inhibiting dust/dirt adhesion and hardly allowing traces of rain and like stains to leave thereon.

Hydroxyl-containing bis(alkenyl) ethers can be incorporated into the backbone of polythioether prepolymers and can be used as curing agents in thiol-terminated polythioether prepolymer compositions. Cured sealants prepared using compositions containing hydroxyl-containing bis(alkenyl) ether-containing polythioether prepolymers and/or hydroxyl-containing bis(alkenyl) ether curing agents exhibit improved physical properties such as rapid curing and compatibility with fillers suitable for use in aerospace sealant applications.
Aqueous coating compositions include an anionic species-scavenging system. The scavenging system includes an aqueous dispersion of water-insoluble, weak base-functional polymer particles. The particles are polymerized from monomer including a weak base-functional monomer such as 2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate or 2-(t-butylamino)-ethyl methacrylate. A two stage process may be employed to prepare the particles and 2-(dimethylamino)-ethyl methacrylate may be included only in the initial stage. Alternatively, a single stage process may be employed using 2-(t-butylamino)methacrylate. The system also includes a volatile base such as ammonia to maintain the pH of the composition above the pKa of the weak base prior to and during application of the composition. As the volatile base is lost, the weak base is protonated and forms ion pairs with anionic species such as anionic surfactant. The compositions form coatings having good water resistance, and may be used as paints, paper coatings, caulking materials, adhesives, binders for non-woven products and for floor polishes and printing inks.

Azlactone functional silicon containing compounds are prepared from alkenyl azlactones and SiH containing compounds in a hydrosilation reaction. The resulting compounds can be reacted with nucleophilic compounds to group containing silicon compounds. When the amidoacyl group containing silicon compounds contain ethylenic unsaturated they can be polymerized to provide polymeric networks useful as pressure sensitive adhesives release compositions, or elastomeric materials.
