The synthesis of two previously unknown novelpolycyclicheterocyclicring systems via photocyclization is described. The structural assignment of the isomeric ring systems, 4 and 5, was achieved by the total assignment of their 1H and 13C nmr spectra by the concerted usage of two-dimensional nmr methods.
