Core-extended perylenetetracarboxylicbisimides were prepared by Diels-Alder reaction followed by reduction, or by nitration followed by cyclisation. Highly fluorescentdyes were obtained with absorption regions from the visible to the NIR. Applications for solar energy harvesting, and quantum counters were suggested.
AzaBenzannulated PeryleneDiimides (AzaBPDIs) and their nitrogen, sulphur and selenium bay-functionalized derivatives are introduced herein as a new class of n-type semiconductors. Original Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling Using Nitro Derivatives for the Synthesis of Perylenediimide-Based Multimers
Perylenediimide (PDI)‐based multimers have demonstrated potential in organic photovoltaics. Being usually prepared by bromination of PDI followed by Suzuki–Miyauracoupling (SMC) with a polyboronic acid/ester, we have shown that the easily prepared 1‐nitroPDI is an excellent starting material for the SMC multimerization.
