  The Z-isomer 10 of the γ-alkylthio-allylboronates adds to aldehydes giving the syn diastereomer 4 of the product homoallyl-alcohol. The E-isomer 12 leads in turn to the anti-diastereomer 5 with a high degree of acyclic stereocontrol. Kinetic diastereoselection can be applied to obtain the anti-diastereomer 5 even when using E/Z-mixtures of the γ-alkylthio-allylboronates.
