  The (Z) and (E) diastereoisomers of cyclopropylvinyl sulfides are efficiently prepared by treatment of (phenylthiomethyl)trimethylsilane with gamma-chlorobutyrophenones in the presence of LDA at -78 degrees C. C3 ring closure and olefination by Peterson reaction occur in the same step.
