Abstract Copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu(L)(PPh3)2]X (1–4) [where L = N-(2-quinolynylmethylene)-1H-benzimidazole; PPh3 = triphenylphosphine, X = NO3(1), ClO4(2), BF4(3) and PF6(4)] were prepared by the condensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole with 2-quinolinecarboxaldehyde followed by reaction with [Cu(CH3CN)4]NO3, [Cu(CH3CN)4]ClO4, [Cu(CH3CN)4]BF4, [Cu(CH3CN)4]PF6 in presence of triphenylphosphine as
