A series of heterobimetallic complexes [RE₂Ca(OQ)₈]·nHOQ(RE = Sm, Gd, Tb, Ho, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y, Sc) and the isostructural [Gd₂Mg(OQ)₈] were synthesised and structurally characterised.
