Sugaring the pill: We report the use of cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) for the efficient chemoenzymatic synthesis of α‐glucosylated disaccharides found in the O‐antigens of Shigellaflexneri serotypes 2a and 3a. This pathway might be of interest in the development of synthetic carbohydrate‐based vaccine candidates against bacillary dysentery.
