This Letter describes an enantioselective approach to (−)-platencin. A uniquely functionalized chiral intermediate, which was prepared via the highly enantioselective catalytic asymmetric intramolecular cyclopropanation (CAIMCP) that we have developed, was successfully transformed to Nicolaou’s intermediate in his totalsynthesis of (−)-platencin.
