One-pot tandem 1,4–1,2-addition of phosphites to quinolines

Trialkyl and silylated dialkyl phosphites were evaluated as phosphorus nucleophiles for the addition to quinolines in a strong acidic medium allowing consecutive 1,4- and 1,2-addition breaking up the aromatic stabilisation, thereby leading to 2,4-diphosphono-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines in one single reaction step in moderate to good yields (2-84%).
Autoxidation of the phosphonatecarbanions derived from 9-phosphono-10-hydroacridanes provided chemiluminescence ascribed to the excited acridone anion. The intramolecular CIEEL (chemically initiated electron exchange luminescence) mechanism can be applied to this chemiluminescence because of the much higher emission efficiency compared to that of 9-phosphono-10-methylacridanes. Reactions of 9-Phosphorylacridines with Aqueous Hydrogen Peroxide Accompanied by Weak Chemilumine-scence: Remarkable Substituent Effect on Emission Efficiency
The reaction of 9-phosphorylacridines with aqueous hydrogen peroxide provides weak chemiluminescence, whose emission efficiency depends on the structures of the phosphorus groups. The bulky substituents in the phosphorus groups increased the chemiluminescence quantum yields, which can be explained by assuming that the present chemiluminescence reaction involves a CIEEL process via phospha-1,2-dioxetanes as the high-energy intermediates.

The effect of chalcogenophosphoryl fragments on the anodic oxidation of 9-chalcogenophosphoryl-9,10-dihydroacridines was studied in detail.
