    The NHC-catalyzed reactions of nitrosoarenes with 4-(2-aroylvinyl)furan-3-carbaldehydes, 4-(2-aroylvinyl) thiophene-3-carbaldehydes or 2-(2-aroylvinyl)nicotinaldehydes were studied, which produced novel furo[3,4-d][1,2]oxazin-4-ones, thieno[3,4-d][1,2]oxazin-4-ones or pyrido[3,2-d][1,2]oxazin-5-ones, respectively. This work developed a versatile method for the construction of different types of heterocyclic ring-fused 1,2-oxazinones that are not easy accessible by other methods. (c) 2012 Elsevier Ltd.
