ales generated from the corresponding propargylic acetals rearrange in the presence of borontrichloride thus opening an efficient and convenient route to a variety of homopropargylic alcohols free of the corresponding allenic isomers. Unexpectedly, the parent derivative leads exclusively to the allenic alcohol.

An iridium-catalyzed cycloisomerization of N-allenyl pyrroles and indoles is reported. The method, which is initiated by a C−H activation step, delivers a diversity of synthetically relevant azaheterocyclic products, depending on the precise ancillary ligand used and the substitution pattern of the allene. Particularly attractive are the hydrocarbonation cascades of tetrasubstituted allenyl precursors
Hydrative cyclization of 1,6-allenyne catalyzed by simple RhCl3 in aqueous solvent is described. This reaction proceeds in rarely reported fashion of 6-endo cyclization and provides a facile access to 5,6-dihydropyrans and 3,4-dehydropiperidines from acyclic substrates in moderate to good yields.
