The copper(i)/copper(ii) transition in complexes with 8-alkylthioquinoline based multidentate ligandsElectronic supplementary information (ESI) available. Schemes S1 and S2, Figs. S1–S7, selected bond lengths and angles and preparation of complexes. See http://www.rsc.org/suppdata/dt/b2/b208120m/
three corners of the basal plane and the apical position, the fourth corner being completed by a DMF, H2O, DMSO or NO3− ligand, respectively. In the copper(I) complexes 3, 9 and 23 the metal centre is distorted tetrahedrally coordinated with two sulfur and two nitrogen donor atoms. The solution structures have been explored by UV–vis and EPR spectroscopy, the copper(II)/copper(I) transition and further

at different electrodes was found to be 2.8% (conc.: 50.0 nM). The interference studies showed that the several common metal ions did not interfere with the quantitative silverdetermination. Finally, because of high selectivity and sensitivity of the proposed modified electrode, it was applied for determination of silver in the environmental water samples and the certified reference material.

Both ligands have been structurally characterised. In L3 the two thioquinoline units are close enough to one another for ligand to act as an N2S2-donor tetradentatechelate to a single metal ion, as shown by the structural determinations of [Cu(L3)][PF6], a pseudo-tetrahedral, four-coordinate Cu(I) complex, and [Cu(L3)(MeCN)][BF4]2, a five-coordinate Cu(II) complex with an additional MeCN ligand and

Tetradentate metalloenediynes with strong imine and weaker thioether coordination serve as a geometrically non-rigid switch to drive thermal Bergman cyclization.
