  (EN) Aniline herbicides of formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or trifluoromethyl, phenoxy or benzyloxy, R3 and R4 are hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or halogen, Y represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitrate, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl and various other substituents and Z is a heterocyclic group attached to the phenyl ring via a nitrogen atom which forms part of the ring system, or a carbocyclic or heterocyclic group attached via a nitrogen atom which does not form part of the ring system, exhibit excellent pre-emergent control of broadleaf weeds and grasses at rates as low as 0.25 lb/A with good safety to soybeans, cotton, corn and wheat. In post-emergent treatments these compounds show excellent and rapid control of broadleaf weeds with low (0-20 %) injury to soybeans, corn, wheat, and rice at rates as low as 0.015 lb/A. The compounds of this invention afford improved crop safety and control of grassy weeds. Novel aniline intermediates are used to make the anilides.(FR) Herbicides d'aniline de formule (I) dans laquelle R1 et R2 sont hydrogène, halogène, alkyle, alkoxy ou trifluorométhyle, phénoxy ou benzyloxy, R3 et R4 sont hydrogène, alkyle, alkényle, alkynyle, ou halogène, Y représente hydrogène, halogène, cyano, nitrate, alkyle, alkényle, alkynyle et divers autres substituants et Z est un groupe hétérocyclique lié au noyau phényle par un atome d'azote faisant partie du système cyclique. Ces herbicides présentent d'excellentes propriétés pour lutter au stade pré-émergeant contre les mauvaises herbes et autres latifoliées avec des quantités aussi faibles que 0,25 lb/A tout en préservant le soja, le coton, le blé et le maïs. Dans des traitements au stade post-émergeant, ces composés présentent d'excellentes propriétés pour lutter rapidement contre les mauvaises herbes latifoliées avec de faibles dommages (0-20 %) au soja, blé, maïs et riz, avec des quantités aussi faibles que 0,015 lb/A. Lesdits composés permettent d'accroître la sécurité pour les récoltes et de lutter plus efficacement contre les mauvaises herbes et autres. De nouveaux intermédiaires d'aniline sont utilisés pour fabriquer les anilides.
