Calcium-mediated hydrophosphanylation of diphenyl- and di(tert-butyl)butadiyne (2,2,7,7-tetramethyl-3,5-octadiyne) with diphenylphosphane oxide yields 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene-2,3-bis(diphenylphosphane oxide) and 2,2,7,7-tetramethyl-4-octyne-3,6-bis(diphenylphosphane oxide), respectively.
