Abstract Some reactions, catalyzed by p -toluenesulfonic acid, of 2-acetamido-1,4-anhydro-2-deoxy-5,6- O -isopropylidene- d - arabino -hex-1-enitol ( 1 ), a furanoid 2-aminoglycal derivative, were examined. Reaction with methyl and with benzyl alcohol gave the corresponding furanoid 2,3-unsaturated glycosides ( 2 and 3 ) in good yield.
