  The first example of a direct catalytic asymmetric Mannich-type reaction using unmodified ketones and an aminomethyl ether is described. This was achieved by the cooperative catalysis of a heterobimetallic asymmetric complex (AlLibis(binaphthoxide)) and La(OTf)3·nH2O.
