    A practical protocol for the elaboration of O-glycosyl-HMF's from glycosyl-(1 -> 6)-glucoses is reported, the two steps involving aluminate-promoted isomerization to the respective 6-O-glycosyl-fructoses and subsequent selective dehydration of the fructose portion. Accordingly, melibiose, gentiobiose, and primeverose are converted into the corresponding 2-uloses and, then, into alpha-GalMF 11, beta-GMF 12, and beta-XylMF 13. Pt/C-catalyzed oxidation with oxygen in NaOH at 25 degrees C efficiently generated the respective furoic acids from alpha-GalMF and alpha-GMF, whilst Pt/O-2 in water at 50 degrees C also oxidizes the primary OH to give the dicarboxylic acids 15 and 17-key building blocks for the generation of novel types of polyesters and polyamides.     A new type of biobased acrylates has been synthesized by a Baylis–Hillman reaction of alkylacrylates with α-D-glucosyloxymethyl-furfural (α-GMF), available in one step from isomaltulose. The reaction, performed in aqueous medium, was extended to other α,β-unsaturated substrates. The use of dimethylisosorbide as co-solvent was investigated.

    Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Überführung von Isomaltulose in 5-(α-D-Glucopyranosyloxymethyl)-furan-2-­carboxaldehyd (GMF) und zwar durch Hitzebehandlung von deren Lösung in Gegenwart eines sauren Ionenaustauschers batchweise oder durch Perkolation über eine mit Ionenaustauschern gefüllte Säule. Die Erfindung betrifft alsdann die Herstellung von Derivaten und Folgeprodukten aus dem GMF gemäß allgemeiner Formel (1) in der R′ ein Wasserstoffatom, einen Acyl-Rest oder Alkyl-Rest darstellt und X entweder -CH₂OH, -COOH, -C(H)=NOH, -CN, -CH₂NHR˝, oder CH=CR˝R‴ (mit R˝ = H, Acyl-Rest, Aryl-Rest oder Alkyl-Rest mit bis zu 20 C-Atomen und R‴ = H, -NO₂, -CN, -COOAlkyl oder Acyl) bedeutet. Die Erfindung betrifft weiter die Verwendung der Verbindungen zur Herstellung von oberflächenaktiven Stoffen.

    The present invention provides deodorants that are characterized by paratinose-derived thermal decomposition as effective ingredients obtained by thermally decomposing the paratinose to 120-240 °C and also characterized by 6-(α-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-1, 3, 4-trihydroxyhexa-5-en-2-on, 5-[(α-D-glucopyranosyloxy)methyl]-2-furancarboxaldehyde and the mixture of above as effective ingredients, so that deodorants posses strong deodorizing effect against various ingredients of odor at wide range of pH, and the addition of large amount to foods, beverages and oral compositions does not influence on their original flavor and good flavor.
