Chemistry of organo halogenic molecules. Part 100. Comparative behaviour of xenon diflouride and caesium fluoroxysulphate in the fluorination of enol acetates and ketones
Xenon difluoride and caesiumfluoroxysulphate reacted in methylene chloride or acetonitrile with various enol acetates, diketones, and ketones, yielding mainly α-fluoro ketones, the course of the reaction depending on the reagent and the structure of the organic molecule. Enol acetates from cycloakanones were converted with caesiumfluoroxysulphate to α-fluorocycloalkanones in high yield. Xenon difluoride

1,3-Dicarbonyls, such as 1,3-diketones and 1,3-ketoesters, react directly with elemental fluorine at room temperature to give the corresponding 2-fluoro- and, in some cases, 2,2-difluoro-compounds in high yield.

Fluorination of 1,3-diketones with xenon difluoride in the presence of the insoluble cross-linked polystyrene–4-vinylpyridine complex with borontrifluoride and insoluble cross-linked polystyrene–4-vinyl-pyridine resins resulted in the formation of mono- and di-fluoro products, while reactions with enol acetates in the presence of hydrogen fluoride gave α-fluoroketones.

An electrolyte containing at least one of dihalodicarbonyl compounds, in which hydrogen atoms of a methylene group between the two carbonyl groups are substituted with halogen atoms, and an electric energy generator comprising the electrolyte, an active material for positive electrode and an active material for negative electrode. The electrolyte has high polarity, high resistance to oxidation and flame retardance, and thus possesses excellent characteristics as the electrolyte for electric energy generators.
