    Composition of matter useful as a multifunctional viscosity index improver for lubricating oils comprising reaction product of: (i) (a) copolymer of ethylene and at least one other alpha-olefin monomer, said copolymer comprising intramolecularly heterogeneous copolymer chains containing at least one crystallizable segment of methylene units and at least one low crystallinity ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer segment, wherein said at least one crystallizable segment comprises at least about 10 weight percent of said copolymer chain and contains at least about 57 weight percent of said copolymer chain and contains at least about 57 weight percent ethylene, wherein said low crystalliity segment contains not greater than about 53 weight percent ethylene, and wherein said copolymer has a molecular weight distribution characterized by at least one of a ratio of M W/ Mn of less than 2 and a ratio of M z/ M of less than 1.8 and wherein at least two portions of an individual intramolecularly heterogeneous chain, each portion comprisig at least 5 weight percent of said chain, differ incomposition form one antoher by at least 7 weight percent ethylene, said copolymer grafted with (b) ethylenically monounsaturated carboxylic acid material having 1 to 2 carboxylic acid groups or anhydride group to form grafted ethylene copolymer; and (ii) at least one polyamine containing one primary amino group and from 1 to about 6 secondary amino groups.

    Improved water dispersed polyurethanes are disclosed. Polyurethane-urea polymers in aqueous dispersion are obtained by chain extending an NCO-containing prepolymer in aqueous medium. The NCO-containing prepolymer is prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate with an active hydrogen-containing compound such as a polyol and an extended aliphatic diamine monomer, the reaction product of which is then dispersed in water and chain extended. The improved water dispersed polyurethane polymers of the invention are excellent coatings and adhesives.

    A functional fluid composition comprising a mixture of: (a) at least one functional fluid base stock; and (b) an additive package comprising at least one derivative of a mono-, di-, or poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acid selected from the group consisting of: (i) neutral metal salts of said mono-, di-, and poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids; (ii) basic metal salts of said mono-, di-, and poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids; (iii) amine salts of said mono-, di-, and poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids; and (iv) esters of said mono-, di-, and poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids; wherein the mono-, di-, and poly-alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids are represented by formula (I): wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and essentially linear hydrocarbyl groups having about 10 to about 14 carbon atoms; and wherein l, m, n and p are integers from 0 to 4 and the sum of 1 + m + n + p is at least 1; and wherein R1, R2, R3, or R4 is a hydrogen where either l, m, n, or p is 0.
