  In this Letter, we describe the synthesis of two amphiphilic septi(p-phenylene)s, One terminus of each rigid-rod scaffold is linked through a spacer to a hydrophilic IDA-subunit, the two benzenes at the other terminus carry hydrophobic substituents of different size.
