  • Two-component industrial maintenance resin coating systems and compositions and coating processes using them

    The present invention is directed to a two-component industrial maintenance coating system. The first component comprises a polyamine terminated epoxy resin which is end capped with specifically defined monoepoxides. A co-solvent is optionally employed in the first component where the end capped adduct is a solid at room temperature. The second component comprises a low molecular weight polyepoxide resin crosslinker and optionally a diluent when the epoxy crosslinker is very viscous or solid at room temperature. Before the two components are mixed together the end capped adduct is converted to its water soluble or water dispersable salt form by reaction with a volatile acid to achieve a certain degree of salting. When the two components are mixed together the epoxide resin crosslinker is microemulsified. The composition which results upon mixing the components is curable at room temperature and exhibits an excellent balance of chemical and physical properties.

    The instant invention is an epoxy resin curing agent based upon an epoxy novolac containing, on the average, between about and 7.5 epoxy groups per molecule, in which substantially all of the epoxide groups are reacted with a polyamine wherein each primary amine hydrogen in the resulting reaction product is further reacted with a monoepoxide or a monocarboxylic acid. The resulting epoxy resin curing agent may be used in a water based system for curing epoxide resins. The curing agent is rendered water soluble or water dispersible by salting with a conventional volatile monocarboxylic acid such as acetic, formic or propionic acid.

    An improved ink suitable for use in ink-jet printers is provided. The ink includes (a) a vehicle comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of water and a non-aqueous component and (b) an anionic dye having cations associated therewith. The ink composition is characterized by further including a macrocyclic poly­ether associated with the cations, the macrocyclic poly­ether having binding sites and a cavity size suitable for complexing the cations. The ink composition of the inven­tion evidences reduced crusting, increased fade resistance and, for use in thermal ink-jet printers, reduced koga­tion.

    A heat-accumulative material which is a polymer or oligomer having, as a main constituent component, units having a polyether main chain and a side chain, side chains capable of being crystallized, and heat-accumulative composition comprising the same heat-accumulative material. The heat-accumulative material tends to be kept at a constant temperature more effectively by absorbing heat as ambient temperature increases to melt, and releasing heat as ambient temperature decreases to solidify, to moderate changes in ambient temperature, and thereby to exhibit the function as a heat-accumulative material. They have a sufficiently high viscosity, preventing the heat-accumulative material from flowing out even when it is molten. Each of the heat-accumulative material and composition can be made into a heat-accumulative film or sheet, laminate, molded article, composite fiber and cloth which can be suitably used around a body.
