The synthesis of the title compound could be achieved by inversion of C-5 in a suitably substituted derivative of 2,6-diamino-2,6-dideoxy-d-glucose (V). Purification of the product by preparative thin layer chromatography and its apparent conformational instability are being emphasized. Its identity with natural paromose has been established.
