    AbstractTreatment of a titanatrane complex with trimethylsilyl chloride and magnesium powder in tetrahydrofuran generated a low‐valent titanium species. This species catalyzed the radical ring opening of epoxides and oxetanes to produce the corresponding less substituted alcohols. The reagent also catalyzed the deallylation and depropargylation of allylic and propargylic ethers, respectively, to provide the parent alcohols.magnified image

    An internal release agent includes at least one phosphodiester represented by the following general formula (1). In the formula, R1 and R2 independently represent a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted with at least one hydroxyl group, and R3 represents an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms. A plurality of R3's may be the same as or different from each other. M represents a hydrogen atom, an ammonium ion, an alkali metal ion, or a monovalent/divalent alkali earth metal ion, and n is an integer of 1 to 60.

    The invention relates to: 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolanes of the general formula (I) 1 wherein R1 denotes hydrogen, C 5 -C 6 -cycloalkyl or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl; m and n, which may be the same or different, denote 0 or 1, whereby m≦n, o denotes 2, 3 or 4 depending on the valency of the group X; and X denotes a C-C single bond, straight-chain or branched C 1 -C 18 -alkylene, C 5 -C 6 -cycloalkylene, C 8 -C 18 -arylalkylene, —CH 2 (OCH 2 CH 2 ) p OCH 2 -, —CH 2 (OCH(CH 3 )CH 2 ) p OCH 2 —, wherein p is an integer from 0 to 100; a process for their production; and intermediate products used. Moreover, compositions capable of emission-free, photocationic cross-linking, which comprise 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolanes of the general formula (I) and their use for the production of solvent-resistant and transparent films.

    A sulfonium salt is provided that has a cation represented by Formula (II) (R 1′ to R 13′ in Formula (II) independently denote a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and may be bonded to each other to form a ring, provided that at least one of R 1′ to R 8′ denotes a halogen atom or a haloalkyl group). There are also provided a curable composition that includes the sulfonium salt, and an ink composition that includes the curabie composition. Furthermore, there are also provided an inkjet recording method employing the ink composition, and a process for producing a lithographic printing plate, the process including discharging the ink composition onto a hydrophilic support. A printed material and a lithographic printing plate thus obtained are also included in the present invention.

    Provided is a photocurable composition which less causes resin-induced swelling of molds, allows the molds to endure more satisfactorily, and has excellent economic efficiency. This photocurable composition includes components (A), (B), (C), and (D). The component (A) is present in a content of 10 to 50 weight percent of the totality of photocurable compounds contained in the photocurable composition. The component (A) is a cycloaliphatic epoxy compound represented by Formula (a). The component (B) is an oxetane compound having a solubility parameter of 9.5 (cal/cm 3 ) 1/2 or more as determined by the Fedors' method. The component (C) is a glycidyl ether epoxy compound having a molecular weight of 250 or more. The component (D) is a photoinitiator: wherein R 1 to R 18 are each, identically or differently, selected from hydrogen, halogen, a hydrocarbon group optionally containing oxygen or halogen, and optionally substituted alkoxy; and X is selected from a single bond and a linkage group.
