A novel benzimidazole‐containing phthalonitrile monomer (BIPN) was synthesized. The chemical structure of BIPN was confirmed by various spectroscopic techniques. Differential scanning calorimetry measurement revealed that the self‐promoted polymerization reaction of the BIPN proceeds extremely sluggish and showed low polymerization exothermic effect.
