This work is devoted to improving the understanding of Algar–Flynn–Oyamadareactionmechanism and the analysis of factors that affect the formation of flavonols. The calculation of thermodynamic parameters for the key reaction steps pointed to a mechanism involving chalcone epoxides as intermediates.
